OUR HISTORY
Once upon a time, two friends were riding their bikes somewhere between Sintra and Bucelas, talking about a place where people could eat well and feel truly welcome. A place to talk about bikes, adventures and everything else.
A space where everyone would feel at ease — whether first-time riders, experienced cyclists or even those who don’t ride a bike at all.
The idea behind Grupeto
We talked about a place where friends could laugh together and enjoy good coffee. A simple, relaxed and genuine space, made for sharing moments and enjoying time together.
Finding our place
As the idea grew, our friend Vítor, from the bike shop Rcicla, found us a small spot right next to him. Full of ideas, eager to learn and certain that we wanted to welcome people warmly and spread smiles, we began building Grupeto Café — one day at a time.
SO WHAT IS A GRUPETO
It's a smaller group of cyclists who stay behind the main peloton during difficult stages, such as mountain climbs. They work together to finish within the time limit set by the race organisers. It's mainly made up of sprinters and support cyclists who may struggle on steep climbs and work together in a spirit of camaraderie to qualify for the next stage. They help each other by sharing water, food and protection.
